Frequently Asked Questions

Can I create a POA while in Pakistan and use it when I move abroad?
Yes, absolutely. Many people create POAs before moving abroad as a precaution. The POA remains valid whether you’re in Pakistan or overseas. However, if you’re already abroad and need to create a new POA, you must execute it at the Pakistani embassy/consulate in your current country with proper attestation.
How long does a Power of Attorney remain valid?
POAs remain valid until: (1) specified expiration date, (2) completion of specific act for special POAs, (3) formal revocation by you, (4) death of either party, or (5) achievement of stated purpose. We recommend including reasonable time limits (1-3 years) with renewal options if needed.
Can my attorney-in-fact sell property to themselves using my POA?
A properly drafted POA explicitly prohibits self-dealing your attorney cannot sell your property to themselves or close relatives. Pakistani courts void such transactions as conflicts of interest. Our POAs include strong prohibitions. If you want to allow it, you must specifically authorize it in writing.
What happens if I want to revoke my Power of Attorney?
Execute a formal revocation deed, register it with the same sub-registrar office, publish notice in two newspapers (Urdu and English), serve personal notice to your attorney-in-fact, and notify all third parties who dealt with your attorney. We handle the complete revocation process.
